The two-story, iconic fixture on the Lyceum lawn known as the Seaside School attracts children from throughout Walton County toting backpacks, snacks, and eager, open minds.
As one of the state’s first charter schools, its curriculum follows some of Seaside’s same founding principles. It is continually challenging, integrative, and exploratory. It focuses on linking subject matter thematically. It connects new ideas with old ideas.
Interestingly, if not for the Truman Show, the Seaside School building might still just be an idea. After filming the movie in our community, the location fees were donated to build the school.
